Race Day Schedule


REMINDER:  The summit can be cold – make sure you give warm clothing to your car ride down. There will be no bag drop area. If you do not have a ride back down you will not be able to participate in the race. To obtain a car ride down prior to race weekend: Post to the race forum. At the race, there will be an area under the festival tent for drivers to meet racers and racers to meet drivers. We encourage drivers to take down racers. It helps with the limited parking on the summit.  Racers will be given a “passenger ticket” – this passenger ticket goes to your driver. If your driver has…

  • TWO or MORE “Passenger Tickets” they will have free passage up the Auto Road
  • ONE “Passenger Ticket” they will pay the Auto Road fee.
  • ZERO “Passenger Tickets” – they will NOT be permitted on the Auto Road.

The above is based on safe car loads.  Vehicles that are over the weight limit will be asked to remove passengers or will NOT be permitted on the Auto Road.

Friday, August 18th

Base of the Auto Road under the BIG TENT  (Located to the right on the Auto Road.)

After crossing the bridge on the Auto Road take a left into the field.  Please follow the directions of the parking volunteers. For a visual, click here.

For safety reasons, as well as Auto Road policy, do not ride your bike or walk on the Mt. Washington Auto Road.

There will be one designated place to cross to the tent, located on the north side of the Auto Road. After parking your car, proceed to this designated area where a crossing guard will assist you in crossing the Auto Road. Please keep all children in hand.

3:00-6:00 p.m.  Racer Check-in

  • Present photo ID
  • Pick up racer kit (race number, etc)
  • Pick up prepaid race merchandise

Saturday, August 19th

RACE DAY!  Mt. Washington Auto Road

6:00-8:00 a.m.   Racer Check-in

  • Drivers to the summit

  • Present photo ID

  • Pick up racer kit (race number, etc)

  • Pick up prepaid race merchandise

  • Rider/Driver section- if you are a racer and need a ride down or if you are a Driver and want to take a racer back down there will be an area set aside for you to meet.

6:30 a.m.   Breakfast available for purchase at Glen View Cafe located at the Auto Road/ Great Glen lodge across the street from the BIG TENT

6:15 – 8:00 a.m.   Road opens for rider’s cars to the summit.

VERY important: Drivers must leave EARLY – NO one is permitted after 8:00 a.m.
  • STAGECOACHES depart for the summit with spectators.

  • Be Early! – Tickets will be sold starting at 7:00 am on a first come first served basis.

  • Stages will then proceed to the summit.

  • No spectator vans available after 8:00 a.m.

  • No advance ticket sales. Adults: $35.00 – Children 5-12 $15.00 – for more info please visit the Mt. Washington Auto Road web site.

11:30 a.m.   Auto Road opens for down traffic or will remain closed until Auto Road staff deems safe to open.

12:00 p.m.  Lunch/ Awards: Lunch provided by Harts Turkey Farm. Awards will begin once the timers are back to base. Please Note: They are the last to leave the summit.

1:00 p.m.  Auto Road opens to all traffic or will remain closed until Auto Road staff deems safe to open.

Extra Lunch Tickets available for purchase.  Please note:  The best time to
purchase extra lunch tickets is when you are registering for the race.  This will guarantee lunch.

  • Racers – No charge
  • RACE DAY Adults – $17.00
  • RACE DAY Kids under 12 – $13.00
  • A limited number of tickets will be available Friday from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m.
  • Any additional tickets will be available at LUNCH in the race store.  Note:  While Supplies Last. Best to purchase while registering for the race.

Spectators may hike up the Auto Road prior to the start of the race. There will be a steady stream of cars driving up the road so pedestrians should be alert and stay to the side of the road. Remember there will be 600 cyclists racing up the road in four separate waves, please stay off the road until all racers have past you.

DOGS are a part of a family too:  Though we like our own dogs as well — we do not allow dogs in the event festival area or parking area.  If you have a Therapy or Service dog, please have their identifying collar/leash so as to be easily identifiable.
